All creative work is a conversation.

“All creative work is a conversation.”
— Rick Rubin

Like a lot of marketers, I felt a little intimidated getting started with AI.

Was I using it the right way? Was I behind? Was I missing something obvious?

But here’s the good news: if you’ve ever written a creative brief or run a creative review… you already know how to do this.

Prompts are just briefs in disguise.
Iterations are just creative reviews.

And that’s when it clicked for me: all those years of writing briefs, reviewing creative, and refining messages — they’re exactly the skills you need to use AI well.

As a marketer your not starting from scratch. Your just applying what you already know in a new context.

The best results come when you give clear direction:
👉 Here’s what I’m trying to achieve.
👉 Here’s the tone I’m going for.
👉 Here’s what to avoid.

Then you review the output like you would any creative:
⚡ This part’s working
⚡ This part feels off
⚡ Let’s try a version with X instead

It’s not about magic tricks or getting it perfect on the first try.

It’s a process. A conversation.
And marketers? We know how to have those.

So if you’re a marketer staring down the AI wave wondering if you’re behind — take a breath. You’ve already got the toolkit.

You just need to start using it.
